Creating and Uploading Videos for Teaching Guidance
Situation and Task
It was highlighted that members of staff throughout Seetec didn’t have the digital skills to develop their own videos for the purpose of teaching as the business moves over to the new blended learning approach. This resulted in the over-reliance of live Microsoft Teams sessions and any content that was developed was not up to quality standards. My task was to develop video training on creating narrated presentations in PowerPoint and how to upload to the Planet eStream video server, enabling the tutors to create their own video learning materials they can send to learners as part of the new blended learning delivery. This would satisfy a main business aim in improving the content quality to enhance business professionalism and reputation, as well as aiding the transformation into a blended learning format.
Action
Now that I had the aim of the resource, I created learning outcomes on the main aspects the users should be able to do by the end of the training. I analysed the features of PowerPoint and Planet eStream, then identified what features the staff members would need to use, from this I created a simplified workflow on how to easily record a narrated presentation and upload online. I decided video tutorials would be the best option to satisfy each learning outcome and created a script for the videos.
After the scripting was complete, I developed the videos within Camtasia and embedded the final videos within an Articulate Rise interactive resource.

Within this resource, I also included other guidance such as the benefits of developing videos to be used as self-directed learning, active learning, as well as a downloadable branded company PowerPoint template so all videos would be standardised throughout the business.
This interactive resource was then circulated throughout the business for any delivery tutors who were required to develop their own video resources as part of the new blended learning delivery.

Results
This project resulted in providing the tutors and staff members with the required digital skills to develop their own video resources as the business moved over to the new blended learning delivery. This included reducing the duration and frequency of the synchronous live sessions by implementing self-directed asynchronous learning. The tutors have now standardised all video content across Seetec to ensure consistent quality and branding, enhancing the reputation of the business within the new blended learning approach.
